One Sunday in late January my good friend Ernst, his wife Joy, and his son Erik came over to hang out for a few hours.  Part of the hanging out consisted of letting the kiddies run around in the snow that had fallen.

Shelby, getting her fill of the snow.

Hayley, finding out that clapping with mittens on doesn't make quite as much noise as clapping without mittens on.

I'm playing with Shelby, while Joy is watching the kiddies roam around.

Here I am with all of the kiddies, making sure they each have a stick that is perfect eye-gouging, head-bonking length to play with.

Erik had a lot of fun drawing in the snow with his stick, and doing some pretent swordfighting.  Shelby and Hayley were a little more laid back - the energy levels and playing habits of 2 year old girls and 3 year old boys are *definitely* different - my hat's off to Ernst and Joy!

Shelby shared her snow (and her frostbite) with Daddy.

More sticking around...

More frostbite...

A couple days later, when the snow was well on its way to melting, we played around outside again - this time Wolfgang got to join us!

Shelby got a kick out out of the puddles that were forming.  What is it with little kids and muddy puddles?
